Harmony & Balance
Harmony - the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole; it can be a feeling
Balance - a condition in which different elements are in the correct proportions; to keep put in a steady position
Being in harmony takes practice. It takes acceptance. It takes letting go. It takes accepting that all the little things that may upset you just a teeny bit are probably not worth the time and energy that you spend on them.
Our practice helps us to learn to accept. First in our yoga poses, then in our breathing, and then one day…in our minds.
Then there is balance…that’s an easy one in your yoga practice. There is always a pose that can challenge your balance.
And that teaches us impermanence. For one moment we’re balanced and then we’re not. Things change. We accept that as part of our practice.
But then, we realize, when we’re off balance, we’re probably distracted, even for the slightest moment. And that teaches us balance.
And then we start to integrate these lessons, slowly like a sous chef’s marinade, into the depths of our thoughts and it seeps into our lives so that we can:
Be in balance
…in our attitude
…in our yoga journey
…in our life.
AND
Be in harmony
…with our family
…with our friends
…with our work
…with our community
…with the earth
…with the global community
