Yoga on the International Day of Self Care
Today is the International Day of Self Care. Yoga is all about self care.
Yoga is not about socializing, styling or getting a workout. Sometimes these great side benefits get in the way of the real fruits of your yoga practice.
Yoga is not a workout, though it can be.
Yoga is a Work In.
Yoga allows you an opportunity to adjust your life by aligning your body, mind and spirit. Yoga helps you to be more aware of your daily life so that you can live in accordance with your values.
Self care is the foundation of your health. The American Psychological Association reports that over 60% of Americans are stressed. You are your 1st line of protection against the threats that target your mental and physical health. Yoga is one of the self care practices that you can embed in your life.
Some self care practices to take along your yoga journey are:
Eat fresh locally grown food.
Spend a few moments in reflective silence each day.
Go to bed by 10:00 pm local time to give your body time to recharge.
Practice deep breathing for at least 90 seconds every day.
Read a book on a yoga topic that you want to learn more about.
Take a walk 30 minutes after dinner to help you digest your food.
Learn to say “no” to things you don’t want in your life.
Ask for help from others when you need it.
Add a few of these self-care practices to your yoga journey and you will feel better,do better and be better.
Namaste…
